Early Forms of Local Entertainment

Since the first settlers to the area, the community has found ways to gather for socialization and entertainment. One must remember travel was achieved either by horse and buggy or train during the late 1800's and early 1900's. It could be a long, tedious and sometimes uncomfortable journey. Once the train depot was established, local businesses and services blossomed within the boundaries of the Village. Since majority of the residents lived and worked in the village, they also formed numerous fraternal organizations and clubs.

A number of documents advertising numerous events are held at the Altamont Archives and Museum.
