Mayor Kerry A. Dineen holds a M.A. Degree in Music Education from the College of Saint Rose in Albany. She has taught K-12 classroom and vocal music for over 29 years around the Capital Region and presently teaches at Pine Bush Elementary School in the Guilderland School District.

Mayor Dineen has lived in and around the Village of Altamont for over 40 years. She was an alumnus of both the Altamont Elementary School and the Guilderland High School. Growing up, she worked at various local businesses in the Village including; Dr. Fass Dentistry, Cindy's Country Kitchen, Agway, Elegant Touch, and A Family Affair - her family's gift shop on the corner of Maple and Main streets. Her grandfather, Carl J. Walters, served as supervisor of the Town of Guilderland for 16 years until 1982. Mayor Dineen previously had the honor of serving on the Guilderland Performing Arts Center board, an organization created during Walters' tenure with the town.

Mayor Dineen was elected to the Village Board in 2005 and served 3 terms as Trustee along with 2 years as Deputy Mayor. She was first elected to the position of Mayor in 2017; becoming the first female to hold this position for the Village of Altamont since it's incorporation in 1890. Re-elected in 2021, Mayor Dineen is currently serving in her second term as Mayor.
