Special Event: Dog Stories in the Park
Reading about dogs for young children offered in conjunction with the Altamont Free Library were held in the park each Monday at 10 a.m. from July 20th to August 17th.
America has a long tradition of artists making art from "found" objects; non-tradition materials; cast-off parts and recycled materials as well as more traditional methods of creativity. One has only to think of the work of Louise Nevelson, John Chamberlain, Alexander Calder, Robert Rauschenberg, Mark DiSuvero, Richard Stankiewicz and other, to name a few.
The artists represented in this exhibition are also dedicated to exploring ideas which inspired them to create compelling objects through the utilization of non-tradiition methods and materials. Their response to the idea of "dogs" in the park and their willingness to participate is greatly appreciated.
